Study Day – ‘Tea Coffee and Chocolate Drinking and British 17th and 18th century Silver and Ceramics’

This year, our study day will be a joint event with the Silver Society.

We are fortunate to have three acclaimed experts to talk to us about the history of tea, coffee and chocolate drinking, and the influence it had on ceramics and silver shapes.

The talks will also provide an insight into the cultural and social significance of hot drink consumption through the 17^th and 18^th centuries and how the designs of ceramics and silverware influenced each other.

Clare Durham, a ceramics expert and valuer.

Tim Schroder, a silver expert with close association to the Ashmolean,
