To coincide with the Ashmolean Museum’s new exhibition entitled “Colour Revolution”, our Study Day will explore the use of new colour pigments in 19th century ceramics.
As the Industrial Revolution in Britain gathered pace, new scientific breakthroughs allowed the Victorians to push the boundaries in the existing use of colour.
We have three excellent speakers who will help us to understand these new developments.
Matthew Winterbottom, Curator of Sculpture and Decorative Arts at the Ashmolean Museum, and curator of the “Colour Revolution” exhibition.
Paul Atterbury, an expert in 19th century ceramics, and a regular ‘Antiques Roadshow’ expert.
Claire Pollard, Curator of Japanese Art at the Ashmolean Museum.
