SUMMARY:Study Day - 'Colour in Ceramics: 19th Century Splendour'
DESCRIPTION:To coincide with the Ashmolean Museum’s new exhibition entitled “Colour Revolution”\, our Study Day will explore the use of new colour pigments in 19th century ceramics. \nAs the Industrial Revolution in Britain gathered pace\, new scientific breakthroughs allowed the Victorians to push the boundaries in the existing use of colour. \nWe have three excellent speakers who will help us to understand these new developments. \nMatthew Winterbottom\, Curator of Sculpture and Decorative Arts at the Ashmolean Museum\, and curator of the “Colour Revolution” exhibition. \nPaul Atterbury\, an expert in 19th century ceramics\, and a regular ‘Antiques Roadshow’ expert.  \nClaire Pollard\, Curator of Japanese Art at the Ashmolean Museum.
