SUMMARY:Visit to Buscot Park Near Faringdon
DESCRIPTION:We will be visiting Buscot Park\, the family home of Lord Faringdon\, who looks after the property on behalf of the National Trust. \nBuscot Park was built between 1780 and 1783\, and was greatly enlarged by Lord Faringdon’s great grandfather in the 1890’s. \nThe house is set within a large park of over 100 acres\, containing woodland\, lakes and formal Gardens as well as a large walled kitchen garden representing the four seasons. \nWe will be given a private guided tour with the curator and will be able to view the family collection of pictures\, furniture\, ceramics\, and objets d’art\, known as the Faringdon Collection which is displayed in the house. \nThis includes a wide range of ceramics ranging from Chinese\, Japanese and European porcelain to a good collection of Italian maiolica\, as well as a Wedgwood pink lustre tea service painted by Therese Lessore. \nThe extensive picture collection includes works by Rembrandt and Burne-Jones. \nThe collection includes contemporary paintings\, ceramics\, glass and silver that has been added to the collection by the present Lord Faringdon. \nMembers will also have an opportunity to see “Exhale”\, an outdoor exhibition of sculptures by contemporary glass artists. \n
